Frankly, going to the movie theater in Japan can be quite expensive. Tickets for new blockbusters usually cost around 1,800 yen each, almost double the price in the U.S. Fortunately, nearly all Japanese cinemas offer certain discount days for patrons. The most common discount days include, Ladies’ Day, Men’s Day, and Elderly Citizen’s Day for people over 50 years old. On these days, women, men or seniors can usually purchase their ticket for 1000 yen. These discount days can be either monthly or weekly, and vary from theater to theater.
