Sumo Wrestling

Sumo wrestling is Japan’s national sport, and is a unique style of wrestling. In sumo, there are no weight classes, so it behooves wrestlers to put on as much weight as possible. The rules of Sumo are fairly straightforward. Two fighters face off in a ring with the loser being the first to step out of the ring or touch the ground with anything but the soles of their feet. There are three 15-day Sumo tournaments in Tokyo per year which can be viewed at Kokugikan, the sumo stadium by Ryogoku Station on the JR Sobu Line.
